We often see the artwork. We applaud the performer. But what about the people who shape the experience around it?
This showcase foregrounds the creative labour of BA (Hons) Arts Management students, revealing how programming, strategy and collaboration are themselves acts of creation. Across projects such as Rock and Indie Festival (RIF), Echoes of the Bay, Wear it, Share it and cultural exchange trips such as Osaka and Sibiu, students examine how meaning is constructed not only on stage or in exhibition spaces, but in the frameworks that hold them together.
From community-driven initiatives to interdisciplinary experiments, these works demonstrate that arts managers are not merely facilitators operating behind the scenes. We design encounters. We build ecosystems. We construct conditions where stories can unfold, audiences can connect, and ideas can resonate beyond a single moment.
Each featured project reflects a distinct approach to cultural production, whether through engagement, technology, research or live experience. Yet collectively, they challenge a common assumption: that creativity belongs only to the artist.
In re-centring the role of the arts manager, this showcase positions management as a generative practice. Here, structure meets imagination and strategy becomes storytelling. The arts manager is not just a coordinator of art, but a creator of possibility.
The exhibition opening on 21 May 2026 will include music performance organised by Desk Notes.
